wiggles 8.7.2008 23:25

oi yo's, got a phone call from the council the other day,
they are planning to redo the park (including moving the skatepark near the pool????????????????)
and they would like people to voice their opinions.........speak now or forever hold your piece.....
(when the park is one rail and a bin in hudson street!!!!)
go to this page and have your say http://www.cheltenham.gov.uk/libraries/templates/havingfun.asp?URN=777&FolderID=0

stu:

is it worth arranging a riders meeting to get some ideas together for you to put to the man?

chris:

i love the 5 year old picture of the skatepark on that page...

i've heard a lot about this living nearby: what is happening is they are trying to get a lottery grant to revamp the park. all the things they have so far are suggestions that may or may not make become part of the bid. one of the suggestions is to move the skatepark in the old cricket hall which is an open-sided but roofed structure near the swimming pool.

so yeah, it probably would be worth arranging to meet the council and making our voices heard.

Jay:

Wiggles! Do you have a contact name and number for your man at the council? Assuming you might want to take a step back from all this, i can take it on with the council?

I think we should find out what the council are planning to do, meet amongst ourselves to discuss it and then go back to the council in a mature and sensible fashion to discuss again. What does everyone reckon? I dont mind doing the donkey work with the council.

Jay:

'Re-locate skateboard park to ex-cricket hall for improved, undercover facilities including toilets & cafe in Leisure@Cheltenham. This new space will be designed in conjuction with local user groups'.

This sounds really positive to me! Let's arrange a get-together to all talk and see what ideas people have got - maybe one evening next week at a quiet pub somewhere?

G-Wig just sent me the contact details for his man at the council so I can call him up to see what the crack is before we meet and then we can present back to him after we've met.

What do you think? Could be exciting

Jay:

PS - I think it would be better if we made one presentation to the council as a group and all sign it rather than loads of individuals all making separate requests/statements. Then we could all agree and be consistent. Just a thought but I'm happy to go with the majority en it.

stu:

get everyone to give jay email addresses we check regularly, arrange a meet and go from there?

stuloxley@blueyonder.co.uk

THE WARDEN:

You can meet at mine big table lots of tea ....... YOU need to all get on this as soon as possible ....With jay up front we can sort this .....DO NOT LET THE COUNCIL PUT THE RAMPS IN STORAGE .LETS GET A PLAN SORTED .

luke:

get Nate wessell on the case, it would be good to keep the old ramps as well as new stuff, but what's my opinion to anyone.

Jay:

That's just the thing Luke - we need everyone's opinion, whatever it is (except the Nate Wessell bit...!)

GC has kindly offered us the use of his table to meet around - let's all meet next Tuesday evening (15th July) at Uncle Graham's and have the first 'meeting' so we can get the ball rolling.

I'll speak to the council before then.

Let's make sure we keep this reasonable and as mature as possible - hate to be a bore but it could be the difference between having a new and expanded park under cover or having the council think we're a bunch of idiots who ain't worth bothering about.

So - next tuesday at GC's, 7pm - yeah?

luke:

i think jay ha this under control, and is true about what hes saying, do we know if it will be wood, metal, loads of space, loads of money to spend?

Things like instead of moving the old ramps for half a million move them ourselves thats were they waste money.

See you tuesday.

chissy will:

i wanna come just for tea and uncle grays!!

Pete:

I will carry the ramps! Lets get this done then, i wanna learn some stunts. Think it would be good slightly under cover, and if we did have more stuff. But however it is good as it is!!
Hmmmmm Confused???

Pete:

Surely everyone cant just turn up at GC's can they?

pete_birt@hotmail.com

Jay:

Ive spoken to GC and he is happy for whoever wants to get something sorted to come along on tuesday.

luke:

dont make a roof 8ft high, sunshine is good sometimes? dunno bout roof, but then again we have more rain that sun so a roof is good. but a high roof, i like a roof. but i dont like a roof

tom:

this sounds really good, being an old cricket house the roof might be a decent height, time to go and have a little moochers!

benny:

i definately wanna get involved in this, the whole thing is sick. i love the idea of having a mad scene like we used to and this would be just the thing.

although i do share the concern about roof height. i mean when you can air as high as someone like luke peeters, you need a fuckin massive roof!

see ya tuesday!

luke:

haha the word was on your airing high, we checked the roof size and kevin robinson aint touching that for shit. looks good

curtis copeland:

get it done innit you fossils, i wanna get down there and pull all the tricks my stiff dad can't do!

Pete:

Me, jay, chris, hoff, nath and luke had a little look last night and yeah it looks like a good size and the roof is high for your crazy airs benny!!
Looks as if it would be fun to have it indoors/outdoors. not quite sure how it would work though? Surely a gaurd would be needed!!

I look forward to tuesday, having a massive team disscusion!
And havn't seen GC for a while, so would be sick!!

THE WARDEN:

Is it still on for Tuesday? . The Swindon army will be in attendance . .Heard a rumour jay was going on holiday? Let us no asap

Jay:

Still on! I was supposed to be taking a service user on holiday next week but i've arranged to come back for Tuesday night especially!

See you at 7 - kettle on!

will:

sorry i totally forgot.. i wish i was there.. swindon army.. tho thats a bit radical! i dont know whos left..
